What are tracks?
TRACK CLASSES: A more flexible learning experience
In 2026, we’re introducing thematic tracks alongside our traditional level-based classes.
The Jazz Roots Track follows a familiar level structure and is designed for dancers who prefer a more classic class progression.
At the same time, other tracks allow dancers to focus on specific approaches or disciplines, such as musicality, tap, or video clip choreography concepts.
These tracks are not strictly level-based and invite participants to explore jazz dance through a more specialized lens.
JAZZ ROOTS TRACK
The Jazz Roots Track offers a level-based approach to exploring authentic jazz dance. It is designed for dancers who prefer a structured learning path while diving into the foundations, vocabulary, and spirit of jazz roots. The Jazz Roots Track invites dancers to explore jazz roots through technique, rhythm, classic steps, and musical awareness — grounded in tradition and social dance culture.
This track includes five hours of classes and is available in five levels, from Open to Master.
TAP TRACK
The Tap Track is dedicated to tap dance as a foundational root of jazz movement and rhythm.
Curated by Leela & Caleb, internationally recognized tap artists, this track offers dancers the opportunity to explore tap as both a rhythmic practice and a cultural form closely connected to jazz dance.
Through focused sessions, you’ll engage with:
rhythm and musical phrasing
footwork and coordination
the relationship between tap, jazz music, and movement
This track is ideal for dancers interested in rhythm, percussive movement, and deepening their understanding of jazz through tap.
Recommended level: from Inter-Advanced onwards.
Musicality Track
Curated by Eyal Vilner, the Musicality Track focuses on strengthening the connection between dance and music. This track invites dancers to explore how a deeper understanding of musical structure, rhythm, and phrasing can transform the way they move, improvise, and express themselves on the dance floor.
Through guided exploration, dancers will work on:
listening skills
musical awareness
timing, dynamics, and phrasing
The Musicality Track is ideal for dancers who want to refine their dance by becoming more attentive, responsive, and connected to the music.
Recommended level: from Intermediate onwards.
REPERTOIRe TRACK
Curated by Nathan, this track focuses on learning and embodying an authentic jazz routine based on a historical video reference.
Dancers will work from an original video clip to:
understand movement vocabulary and style
explore context and intention
embody choreography with respect for its roots
This track emphasizes transmission, observation, and interpretation, offering dancers a chance to engage deeply with jazz dance repertoire and historical material.
Recommended level: Intermediate & upwards
Continuum Track
Led by LaTasha Barnes, the Continuum Track invites dancers to explore jazz dance as a connected and evolving practice.
Rather than separating styles or techniques, this track focuses on continuity, lineage, and shared rhythm, highlighting the deep connections between jazz forms across time and expression.
The Continuum Track emphasizes:
connection over classification
rhythm as a unifying language
embodied learning and exploration
This is an Open level track, welcoming dancers with curiosity and a desire to engage with jazz roots through connection, awareness, and shared experience.
CHESTER TRACK
Led by Chester Whitmore, the Chester Track offers a rare opportunity to work directly with one of the great figures of jazz dance.
In this track, participants will learn a choreography created by Chester, guided by his approach to rhythm, style, and performance. The focus is on transmission, presence, and embodying jazz movement with intention and clarity.
The group will then perform this choreography together during the Sunday night party, making this track a shared artistic experience that bridges learning, performance, and celebration.
This track is ideal for dancers who:
enjoy choreography and performance,
want to work closely with a legendary artist,
are curious about stage presence and collective expression within jazz dance.
